Ending the
Blame Game!
20
Rules to Live By
You've
heard it all:
- I can’t
get anything done.
- Other departments
just won’t support us.
- I can’t
make my numbers, the market is too soft.
- They missed the
deadline, now we can’t make ours. It’s their fault.
- If they keep
hiring incompetent people, I can’t do competent work.
- They wanted it
to look like this.
- I can’t
help it if it doesn’t work.
- What do you want
me to do? My manager’s a jerk.
No
doubt, many of these excuses are familiar to you. In fact, you’ve
probably used one or two from time to time and could easily add to this
list with a
little self-critical thought. The purpose of this book, however, is to
learn how not to point fingers. To free you and your staff or co-workers
from the negative stress that Blame causes. Learn to laugh at the things
you do rather than fighting over them.
What
we must do is learn how to react in contrast to the urgings of that internal
gremlin who appeals to the lesser instincts of our human nature. By eliminating
the blame-game you’ll become a more productive sales person, a more
effective manager or just a more pleasant person to be around.
The
most common comment I get on this book is:
I
keep it right on my desk!
